    Description

This opportunity from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), part of the NIH, funds R01-level research projects that do not involve clinical trials. The goal is to advance innovative research that informs and supports the delivery of high-quality, continuously improving mental health services for individuals with, or at risk for, mental illness. Projects must address NIMH strategic priorities, particularly those that strengthen the public health impact of mental health services research.

    Research may focus on:

    • Identifying mutable factors affecting access, continuity, utilization, quality, value, and outcomes of mental health services, including disparities.
    • Developing and testing new research tools, technologies, measures, or methods.
    • Integrating and analyzing large datasets to understand factors affecting mental health services outcomes using advanced computational and predictive analytics.

Projects should leverage existing infrastructure and partnerships where possible and are encouraged to address disparities in mental health service access and outcomes.

Clinical trials are not permitted under this opportunity. Studies that require prospective assignment of participants to interventions must apply under a different NIMH clinical trials NOFO.
