Description
The SVS Foundation Mentored Research Career Development Awards support clinically trained vascular surgeons with the potential to become productive, independent investigators. The program funds research career development in biomedical or behavioral research, including translational research, and patient-oriented research. It supplements eligible mentored career development awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), complementing those agencies’ investment in vascular surgeon scientists.
Awards are paid to the recipient’s institution and can support salary or expenses related to the underlying NIH or AHRQ research project. The SVS Foundation administers the program, and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) co-sponsors a select number of awards each year. Gore provides support for the awards.
