    Description

The Meteorological Society of New Zealand, with support from Air New Zealand, offers this scholarship to support postgraduate research into climate-related risks and opportunities for New Zealand aviation. It encourages high-quality work in meteorology, climatology, climate risk, and related atmospheric and environmental sciences, while fostering collaboration between researchers and aviation stakeholders.

Research can address physical climate hazards affecting aviation operations and infrastructure, transition risks associated with policy and market changes, adaptation and resilience planning, or aviation weather and climate services. Climate risk assessment methods, decision-support tools, uncertainty analysis, and other studies of interactions between climate, weather, and aviation are also within scope. The scholarship aims to improve understanding, adaptation, resilience, and climate-informed decision-making, while encouraging interest in the atmosphere and exchange of meteorological and climatological information.
