Description
The Michigan Translational Research and Commercialization (MTRAC) Program supports research that brings technologies from Michigan institutions closer to commercial use. Created in 2012 and expanded statewide in 2016, it aims to accelerate technology transfer through licenses and startups while helping Michigan’s research institutions contribute to the state’s economy. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) administers the program for the Michigan Strategic Fund.
MTRAC works through five Innovation Hubs: Agriculture-Biology, Life Sciences, Advanced Transportation, Advanced Materials and Advanced Computing. The hubs fund eligible projects from Michigan institutions of higher education, nonprofit research centers and hospital systems. Each hub runs an annual request for proposals or another competitive process.
