This award is designed to support NASPGHAN members at the mid-career stage who are pursuing innovative or new research in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. Its goal is to enable established investigators (with at least five years in a faculty appointment but not yet full professors) to pursue focused research projects that can directly enhance their ability to obtain further federal funding and make significant contributions to the field. Proposals spanning basic, clinical, quality improvement, translational, epidemiologic, dissemination, and implementation research are encouraged. Preference is given to applicants with a track record of national federal research funding, those currently experiencing a funding gap, and those demonstrating commitment to a long-term academic career in pediatric GI.
