This award enables U.S. scholars to undertake research or professional projects across two or three countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The program is open to all academic disciplines and encourages projects with a comparative or regional focus, including both historical and contemporary topics. Priority is given to proposals that build regional cooperation, address pressing regional issues (e.g., security, education, health, energy, tourism, food security, water technology), and contribute to mutual understanding and stability. Scholars are expected to engage with host communities through public talks, mentoring, and outreach activities in addition to their primary project.
