Mineral Physics Group Bursary Scheme supports researchers with travel and alternative care costs to develop, undertake, apply and communicate research across the broad field of mineral physics.
Funder: Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland
Due Dates: Rolling (at least one month before travel; ideally eight weeks ahead)
Funding Amounts: Up to £500 for travel, plus up to £500 for care arrangements
Summary: Supports research-related travel to develop, undertake, apply and communicate research in mineral physics.
Key Information: Applicants must be researchers at a UK university or research institute; Society membership is not required.
The Mineral Physics Group of the Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland runs this bursary scheme to support research across the broad field of mineral physics. It funds research-related travel, including attendance at conferences, meetings and workshops. The group particularly encourages visits to overseas laboratories and national or international research facilities, including synchrotron and neutron radiation facilities that do not provide travel support.
The scheme also addresses barriers created by care-giving responsibilities, offering additional funding for reasonable alternative care arrangements during research-related travel. Applications are assessed primarily on academic merit, scientific impact and researcher development. The bursary operates alongside other funding schemes offered by the Society and its Special Interest Groups.
