--- ## Description The Mini Grant program from the Marshall Community Foundation provides flexible, local funding for smaller-scale projects that benefit residents of the City of Marshall and surrounding townships in Calhoun County, Michigan. Grants are designed to address a broad range of community needs, with an emphasis on projects that deliver substantial community benefits, foster collaboration, avoid duplication of services, strengthen self-sufficiency, support innovative or start-up efforts, assist low-income and underserved populations, promote youth development, and address the underlying causes of local challenges. The Foundation encourages projects that maximize volunteer resources, attract matching funds, and benefit the greatest number of people. --- ## Due Dates - April 1, 2026: Mini Grant application submission deadline (April 1 quarterly cycle) - July 1, 2026: Mini Grant application submission deadline (July 1 quarterly cycle) - October 1, 2026: Mini Grant application submission deadline (October 1 quarterly cycle) - January 1, 2027: Mini Grant application submission deadline (January 1 quarterly cycle) Applications may be submitted at any time, but must be complete (including all required materials) by the deadline to be considered for that cycle. Applications submitted after a deadline will be considered in the next cycle. --- ## Funding Amount - Maximum award: **Up to $750** per Mini Grant. - Mini Grants are intended for smaller-scale requests within the Foundation’s priorities. - Reviewed and awarded quarterly. --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - Non-profit, tax-exempt organizations - Schools - Churches (for non-sectarian purposes) - Cities and townships in the greater Marshall-area and Calhoun County **Key requirements:** - Projects must directly benefit residents of the City of Marshall and surrounding townships. - Applicants must have submitted and received Board approval for final reports on all previous MCF grants before applying. **Restrictions:** - No funding for legislative or political projects, religious/sectarian purposes, general operating expenses, annual fundraising drives, endowments, or debt reduction. - Requests over $75,000 or requests of $5,000 or greater with MCF as the sole funding source are not eligible. - Salaries are generally not funded except as direct program expenses. --- ## Application Process 1. **Review Priorities**: Carefully review the Foundation’s grant-making priorities ([see priorities](https://marshallcf.org/receive/grants/#priorities)). 2. **Contact MCF**: Discuss your potential request with the Foundation ([contact page](https://marshallcf.org/contact/)). 3. **Create a Grantee Profile**: Register your organization ([create profile](https://marshallcf.org/receive/grants/create-grant-profile/)) and upload required documents: - IRS Determination Letter - Board Roster - Most recent IRS Form 990 - Annual Operating Budget 4. **Complete the Application**: Access and fill out the Mini Grant application ([application portal](https://marshallcf.org/receive/grants/apply/)). 5. **Upload Supporting Documents**: Submit letters of support, vendor bids/estimates, and other relevant materials. 6. **Submit Application**: Once submitted, applications cannot be edited.
