Maine Humanities Council’s Mini Grants support smaller humanities programs and projects undertaken by nonprofit organizations and communities across Maine. The program prioritizes rich, well-developed humanities content, participation from a topic expert, community partnerships, and broad public outreach. Projects should engage audiences in interpretation, analysis, or discussion of human culture and lived experience, with opportunities to think, reflect, and connect with one another.
Supported formats can include exhibitions, conferences, film or video productions, podcasts, radio shows, and discussions. Projects must demonstrate a spirit of inquiry, balance critical and celebratory perspectives, and offer a range of viewpoints consistent with MHC’s nonpartisan mission. Organizations serving or led by communities traditionally under-resourced in the humanities are encouraged to apply.
