Description
Mayo Clinic’s one-year fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, provides advanced training in laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgery. Clinical experience includes complex gastrointestinal procedures, primary and revisional bariatric surgery, complex hernia surgery, Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS), and solid-organ procedures. Training emphasizes patient selection, operative technique, and perioperative care.
Mentored education and clinical and experimental research are integral to the program. Fellows participate in refining existing minimally invasive approaches and developing innovative techniques, including hybrid procedures. The program aims to prepare surgeons for independent clinical practice while developing their educational and research abilities and supporting leadership and academic careers. The fellowship is fully accredited by the Fellowship Council.
