Description
The Minnesota Hospital Registered Nurse Loan Forgiveness Program helps recruit and retain nurses in needed facilities across Minnesota. Administered by the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC), it supports registered nurses providing in-person, direct patient care in nonprofit and public hospitals. Current nursing students may also apply if they will be licensed and working by March following the application deadline.
Funded by the State of Minnesota under Minnesota Statutes, section 144.1501, the program repays qualifying educational debt associated with RN education. Its competitive selection process gives preference to applicants who document diverse cultural competencies and those nearest to completion of their RN training. The broader Healthcare Loan Forgiveness Program supports healthcare professionals, facilities, and communities experiencing shortages in access to care.
