Description
The Ohio Commission on Minority Health funds activities for Minority Health Month, a statewide April campaign it created in 1989. The FY2027 grants support in-person or virtual events that promote healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and awareness of health disparities. Activities are designed to reach economically disadvantaged minority communities while serving any Ohioan who presents for appropriate services.
Priority goes to proposals addressing cancer, cardiovascular disease—particularly hypertension—diabetes, infant mortality, substance abuse, or violence. The Commission may also consider other conditions that disproportionately affect Ohio minorities when applicants document the need. Funded activities are expected to improve participants’ health knowledge, attitudes, or practices.
