Funding Amounts: Up to $75,000; the 2027 opportunity summary describes one to two years

Summary: Supports early-stage research generating initial datasets and new knowledge about misophonia, its assessment, and potential interventions.

Key Information: Graduate or medical students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty investigators may lead proposals through a one-stage full-proposal process.

    Description

The Misophonia Research Fund (MRF), an initiative of the REAM Foundation, supports early-stage research that provides key initial datasets, addresses gaps in understanding misophonia, or generates knowledge essential to developing larger research projects. The Data Discovery Award encourages novel approaches to studying the disorder’s underlying mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment, including applications of artificial intelligence.

Projects may use human, animal, or other relevant research models. Priorities include characterizing misophonia and associated impairments, developing or validating objective assessment methods, and studying interventions. MRF emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, data sharing, and consensus criteria that enable comparison across studies. Broader interests include pediatric and adolescent research, neurological structure and activity, longitudinal change, social context, rapid non-invasive assessment, consensus self-assessment tools, randomized controlled trials, and comparative efficacy studies.
