The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) administers this program to help rural agricultural businesses add value to Missouri agricultural products, strengthen rural economies, and develop institutional markets within the state. Institutional customers include schools, correctional facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and military bases.
Funding supports resources for accessing and processing locally grown products, including coolers, freezers, washing, sorting, bagging, and packing equipment. It also supports professional services for Good Agricultural Practices/Good Handling Practices (GAP/GHP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Analysis (HACCP) plans. Priorities include producer-led collaborations, innovative projects that do not duplicate existing efforts, and near-term commercial opportunities benefiting multiple producers and local rural economies.
