Munich Quantum Valley gGmbH (MQV) supports graduate students and postdoctoral fellows through quantum research exchanges between Canada and Germany to advance international research collaboration.
Funder: Mitacs
Due Dates: Rolling (MQV supplement and Mitacs GRA applications)
Funding Amounts: €2,000 MQV supplement plus $6,000–$12,000 Mitacs GRA funding; MQV visits up to six months for graduate students or one year for postdoctoral fellows
Summary: Supports international quantum research exchanges between Canada and Germany through the Mitacs Globalink Research Award and an MQV supplement.
Key Information: Projects must directly relate to MQV research and involve an MQV-associated researcher; up to 10 positions annually.
Munich Quantum Valley gGmbH (MQV) provides supplemental funding alongside the Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) for master’s and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows undertaking quantum research in Germany or Canada. The partnership supports mobility to and from Canada, with interns working under joint supervision by home and host professors. MQV pays its supplement directly, separately from the funding administered through Mitacs and its Canadian academic institution partners.
The research must align with MQV research topics and involve an MQV-associated researcher. Within the broader GRA Quantum stream, supported fields include quantum computation hardware, algorithms and software; quantum communication, networks and cryptography; and quantum metrology, sensing, imaging and materials. The program advances international research collaboration while providing research and development opportunities for interns.
