--- ## Description This award honors an individual for exceptional contributions or lifetime achievement in the field of neuropathic pain research. Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and endowed by the United States Cancer Pain Relief Committee, the Mayday Fund, and friends of Dr. Mitchell Max, the award highlights scientific integrity, academic excellence, mentorship, professionalism, and inspiration within the neuropathic pain research community. The recipient is required to present a 10-minute lecture during a scientific session at the AAN Annual Meeting. --- ## Due Dates - October 2026 (full application deadline, anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - Minimum $1,000 cash prize - Certificate of recognition - Complimentary registration for the AAN Annual Meeting This is a one-time award. --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be actively engaged in neuropathic pain research. - Open to both self-applicants and nominations. - Applicants do **not** need to be AAN members. - Industry employees are **not** eligible to apply. --- ## Application Process Applicants or nominators should submit: - Completed application form - Current curriculum vitae (CV) - Letter from a colleague summarizing the applicant's body of work, including: - Relevant background materials - Research accomplishments in context - Assessment of the impact of contributions to the understanding of neuropathic pain **Nominations:** Nominators complete the application form, select "I wish to nominate someone," and the nominee will receive a link to complete their portion.
