Description
The Modern Language Association (MLA), with support from EBSCO, recognizes coursework developed collaboratively by department faculty members and academic librarians. The prize honors courses that successfully integrate disciplinary objectives with information literacy learning objectives grounded in the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Its focus is on bringing disciplinary instruction and information literacy practice together to enhance student learning in both areas.
The prize emphasizes effective course design, equal partnership in developing and delivering instruction, and approaches that accommodate students’ differing levels of preparedness. Assessment of learning outcomes, effective syllabi and assignments, and teaching methods that can be reused or adapted in other course contexts are central considerations. Winners are honored during the MLA convention.
