Description
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) administers this competitive round of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. It funds new direct-current fast-charging sites and upgrades to existing sites in identified clusters near U.S. and state highways. Projects encompass the design, installation, ownership, operation, and maintenance of charging equipment; MnDOT will not own or operate the stations.
Minnesota’s designated alternative fuel corridors have been certified as fully built out for EV charging, allowing MnDOT to use remaining NEVI funds on other roadways. Round 3a targets gaps in charging for long-distance travel, with the goal of making the network convenient, accessible, reliable, and equitable.
