Description
The Moderate Income Housing (MIH) program is administered by Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) through the State Housing Trust Fund. It supports housing for moderate-income Kansans who typically do not qualify for federal housing assistance. Grants to eligible cities and counties support single-family and multifamily development for homeownership or rental, with a focus on creating new habitable units and supporting local economic development.
Eligible work includes new construction, acquisition for housing development, modular or manufactured homes on permanent foundations, rehabilitation of vacant and uninhabitable housing, and conversion of nonresidential buildings. Down payment assistance may support purchases of homes created through the award. Infrastructure may be considered when combined with housing development, rather than as a stand-alone project.
