Description
The Puget Sound Partnership funds Monitoring to Accelerate Recovery projects every two years through its Science and Evaluation team. The program addresses important monitoring information needs for Puget Sound recovery. Projects are expected to support the Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program (PSEMP) strategic plan: increasing collaboration, strengthening adaptive management, and improving how monitoring information is shared and used in decisions.
Funded work has developed Puget Sound Vital Sign indicators, examined ecosystem conditions and trends, and evaluated restoration and management efforts. Recent projects have addressed phytoplankton, shoreline conditions, estuary birds, killer-whale health, Dungeness crab populations, and beach nourishment.
