Description
The Medical Research Council (MRC), part of UK Research and Innovation, provides flexible applicant-led grants to transform understanding of human health and disease. The programme supports discovery and early translational research that generates insights into disease causes and mechanisms, accelerates diagnosis, advances treatment and prevents illness. Projects may involve focused investigations, longer-term research addressing interrelated questions, or proof-of-principle work testing a key hypothesis or a new research direction.
MRC welcomes team-science, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches, including research with global perspectives and potential global health benefits. International partnerships should be equitably led and co-designed. Proposals must demonstrate the team’s expertise and experience, while embedding support for researchers, staff development and the research environment.
