Description
The University of California’s Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) Pilot Awards support new multicampus or systemwide collaborations that go beyond individual investigator-driven projects. Open to all fields of scholarship, the program funds pioneering multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary research that strengthens UC’s research capacity, enhances education and training, and benefits California’s people, environment, and economy.
Administered by UC Research Initiatives within the UC Office of the President’s Research Grants Program Office, the awards emphasize outcomes unattainable by a single campus or discipline. Priorities include emerging research fields, areas underfunded relative to their importance, and seed-funded work with potential to attract extramural support. Activities may include collaborative research, shared datasets or infrastructure, graduate and postdoctoral training, research-launching workshops, and new community or private-sector partnerships.
