Key Information: Applicants must agree a project with a host supervisor at a European institution outside their own country before applying.
The MSIF-ECTRIMS McDonald Fellowship is a joint programme of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) and ECTRIMS for early-career multiple sclerosis (MS) researchers from low- and middle-income countries. During a two-year placement at a European research institution, fellows gain expertise or carry out joint research projects. The awardee is also invited to attend the annual ECTRIMS congress.
The programme expects fellows to use their new expertise and networks to continue MS research and/or patient care in low- and middle-income countries. Projects with clear benefits for people with MS in these countries are prioritised. Research must be relevant to MS; projects involving related conditions, such as NMOSD or MOGAD, must explain their relevance to understanding MS.
