Description
The Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program (MLRP), administered by the California Department of Conservation, supports regional efforts to strategically repurpose agricultural land and reduce reliance on groundwater. The program seeks to deliver community health, economic wellbeing, water supply, habitat, and climate benefits while helping regions respond to California’s uncertain groundwater future.
MLRP uses block grants to connect local and regional planning with project development and implementation. Grantees coordinate land repurposing strategies that reflect their communities’ unique needs, then support projects that meet the objectives of those plans. The Climate Bond provides a new funding authorization for the program, with DOC developing guidelines to distribute appropriated funds.
