Description
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants for transportation improvements that encourage economic development and ensure a safe, reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) administers the program under the direction of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). It supports development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets in existing communities.
Eligible work includes streetscapes, lighting, sidewalks, pedestrian safety, transportation connections, and transit-oriented development. Projects can involve bus and rail facilities, bicycle infrastructure, local highways and bridges, airport improvements, and rail freight or port infrastructure. Transit-oriented development focuses on transportation improvements serving neighborhood-scale development around transit stations, rather than a single real estate project. The CFA fund is separate from PennDOT’s Multimodal Program.
