Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources offers this program to help communities protect life, health, and property before floods occur. It is not an emergency relief program. Its goals are to reduce flood hazards, respond proactively to the impacts of a changing climate, and improve municipal resilience and preparedness.
Acquisition and Development Grants support work such as acquiring property for permanent open space or flood storage, removing structures, floodproofing, riparian restoration, flood control construction, and mapping. Supplemental Local Assistance Grants support project administration. Eligible projects are ranked by project type, with acquisition and removal of structures that cannot be rebuilt receiving the highest priority.
