Description
Administered by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), the Municipal Road Grant Program brings state and local funding together for transportation infrastructure maintained by Rhode Island cities and towns. Governor McKee created the program, and the General Assembly enacted it in 2023 for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2024.
Funding supports road and sidewalk work such as milling and overlay, crack sealing, chip sealing, sidewalk replacement, and materials for non-asphalt roads. It also supports maintenance and repair of qualifying bridges, including washing, painting, deck and joint repairs, concrete patching, steel repairs, and scour repairs. RIDOT evaluates municipal project plans and helps municipalities complete approved projects on time.
