Description
The Mississippi Arts Commission’s MWS Capacity Building Project Grant supports projects that strengthen schools’ capacity to provide arts education. It is available exclusively to active Mississippi Whole School and Model School members, and proposed projects must align with the applicant’s MWS Growth Planner goals. Mississippi Whole Schools is the commission’s statewide arts education program, promoting arts integration across disciplines alongside instruction in dance, theatre, visual arts, and music.
Projects may strengthen arts education for pre-K–12 students or help educators teach the arts and use them in non-arts subjects. Examples include hiring a consultant to integrate arts into the curriculum, commissioning a permanent artwork such as a mural, or developing a year-long artist residency.
