Description
The National Academy of Education (NAEd), with support from the Spencer Foundation, offers this fellowship to early-career scholars whose work promises significant contributions to education research. It supports research on education’s history, theory, or practice and welcomes applicants from any academic discipline or professional field. Education is defined broadly, encompassing formal and non-formal learning, U.S. and international contexts, school and non-school settings, and early childhood through adulthood.
The non-residential fellowship combines research funding with three professional development retreats led by Academy members and other distinguished scholars. Fellows also select an NAEd member or another esteemed scholar as a mentor. Research may take place at the fellow’s home institution or another arranged research site. The program seeks to strengthen research capabilities, advance recipients’ careers, and support long-term contributions to education research.
