Key Information: Career development award, not formal research funding; recipients must begin within two years after fellowship training.
The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP), in partnership with Stryker, supports a supervised, 24-month career development experience for an EMS physician with the aptitude, talent, and potential to become a future EMS leader. The award helps recipients transition from EMS fellow to independent EMS physician at an academic institution and/or healthcare system involved in ground or air medical EMS.
The program prioritizes activities that develop skills as an EMS medical director or EMS physician, rather than a formal research project. Supported work may include clinical and operational medical direction within local or regional EMS systems, educational activities, and quality improvement. An active EMS medical director provides mentorship and direct supervision of the career development plan.
