Description
The Nakanishi Prize recognizes and stimulates significant work that extends chemical and spectroscopic methods to the study of important biological phenomena. Administered in the United States by the American Chemical Society (ACS), it honors outstanding scientific achievement, with special consideration for work that has contributed broadly on an international scope.
Established in 1995 by Koji Nakanishi’s students, colleagues, and members of the scientific communities in the United States and Japan, the prize reflects his encouragement of collaborative and interdisciplinary science. It is supported by an endowed fund established by his friends and colleagues. Presentations alternate between the United States and Japan: ACS administers the prize in odd-numbered years, and the Chemical Society of Japan administers it in even-numbered years.
