This program is a one-year, part-time remote leadership development opportunity designed for mid-career professionals dedicated to improving diagnostic quality and safety in U.S. health care. Participants, known as NAM Scholars in Diagnostic Excellence, engage in monthly educational sessions, receive mentorship from national leaders, and join a growing network committed to advancing diagnostic practices. The program emphasizes the implementation of national strategies that address recommendations from the National Academies' consensus report, Improving Diagnosis in Health Care. Scholars are expected to lead projects that can demonstrate tangible improvements in diagnostic excellence within the program year.
