The North American Strawberry Growers Association (NASGA) Research Foundation supports strawberry production research benefiting its grower members. Its invitation reaches researchers at universities and research institutions working in plant horticulture, breeding, pathology, entomology, and weed science. The program aims to improve the sustainability of strawberry production in North America: high-quality fruit produced economically with minimal environmental impact.
Research priorities include cultivar development and testing, pest management, production efficiency and profitability, and reducing microbiological contamination along the supply chain. Proposals outside these priorities are also considered. Research directly applicable to growers’ needs, benefiting broad geographic areas, or considering economics receives higher priority. The Research Committee assesses scientific merit, while Research Foundation members assess relevance to strawberry industry needs.
