Description
The Native American Scholars Initiative (NASI) Summer Undergraduate Internship is an eight-week paid residential program at the American Philosophical Society’s Library & Museum in Philadelphia. Funded through a Mellon Foundation grant, it gives three undergraduates hands-on research experience, mentorship, networking opportunities, and exposure to advanced training in Native American and Indigenous Studies and related fields.
Working with mentors, interns develop their own archives-based projects or pursue research identified by Indigenous communities collaborating with the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR). The Library & Museum’s collections encompass more than 650 Indigenous cultures throughout the Americas. Interns join a scholarly community, share their work with varied audiences, and develop skills in peer support, collaboration, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
