USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services, administers this competitive State Preparedness opportunity through the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP). Funding supports high-value projects that prevent or mitigate foreign and emerging animal diseases and pests threatening U.S. agriculture, including New World screwworm, highly pathogenic avian influenza, African swine fever, and foot-and-mouth disease.
The opportunity focuses on strengthening State and regional preparedness through training, response stockpiles, response planning, biosecurity, traceability, and information sharing. Supported work can include developing practical tools and plans, improving systems, conducting exercises, and building specialist capacity. APHIS will have substantial involvement in funded projects, including guidance, document review, progress monitoring, and consultation on performance goals and data collection.
