    Description

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services, funds projects that prevent or mitigate the introduction and spread of foreign and emerging animal diseases threatening U.S. agriculture. This competitive FY 2027 Industry Preparedness opportunity supports producer and veterinary organizations in strengthening prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery knowledge and capabilities. Funding comes through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the 2018 Farm Bill.

Projects may address communications and education, training and exercises, biosecurity, animal movement and continuity of business, or applied research with practical value during outbreaks. Research examples include depopulation, disposal, decontamination, safe animal movement, vaccines, and diagnostics. APHIS will have substantial involvement in funded cooperative agreements, including project guidance, progress monitoring, and development of performance goals.
