The Administration for Community Living (ACL), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, plans to fund operation of the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) through a cooperative agreement. The center’s purpose is to improve national, state, and local communities’ preparation to prevent, identify, and intervene in elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation so older Americans can live with dignity, integrity, and independence.
NCEA provides web-based, downloadable, and in-person information, resources, and training for professionals and the public. Its work emphasizes best practices for preventing and responding to elder maltreatment, including frauds and scams, and helping people become better informed and better able to avoid or stop these harms.
