Description
The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) connects research on earthquakes with practical risk reduction. Its work advances understanding of why and how earthquakes occur and how they affect natural and built environments. It also develops strategies, tools, techniques, and other measures to reduce their adverse effects.
NEHRP promotes the implementation of those measures to strengthen resilience in communities at risk from earthquakes. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the program’s lead agency. The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) lists NEHRP among its grants and funding programs.
