Description
The National Endowment for Plastic Surgery (NEPS) Grant, administered by the Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF), supports research that translates clinical or basic science findings into clinically relevant advancements or tools. Its priority is work with a high likelihood of influencing daily plastic surgery practice and patient care within the next few years. Review emphasizes important study questions, sound design, preliminary or pilot evidence of feasibility, investigator-team quality, and appropriate statistical and analytic methods.
Supported projects have investigated lymphatic preconditioning, mechanisms of lymphedema, immediate lymphatic reconstruction, and pain pathways affected by targeted muscle reinnervation. Other recipients have developed a peer-to-peer storytelling resource for breast cancer patients and a patient-reported outcome measure that includes patients undergoing surgical treatment for headaches.
