    Description

The National GEM Consortium’s Ph.D. Engineering and Science Fellowship connects doctoral education with paid graduate-level work experience at member employers. GEM’s network of universities, corporations, and national laboratories supports access to engineering and science graduate education and seeks to increase participation by underrepresented groups. The fellowship promotes careers in research and development, product development, and other high-level technical fields while also providing exposure to academic opportunities.

The program supports doctoral pathways following a master’s degree or direct admission from a bachelor’s program. Eligible fields span engineering, computer science, mathematics, and the physical and life sciences. Fellows study at participating GEM Member Universities and complete supervised summer work with an experienced engineer or scientist. GEM seeks to match fellows’ research interests with employer needs.
