Description
BrightFocus Foundation’s National Glaucoma Research Postdoctoral Fellowship supports basic scientists and clinician-scientists in the final stages of mentored training. It funds postdoctoral studies addressing glaucoma’s etiology, prevention, or treatment while helping fellows establish the foundation for an independent research career. The fellow must drive the application and research, rather than receive support for research directed by the mentor.
BrightFocus favors high-risk, highly innovative experimental ideas, including interdisciplinary investigations, that illuminate poorly understood areas and generate findings capable of attracting later governmental or industrial support. It prefers not to fund projects with substantial existing resources or those already competitive for such support. U.S. and international researchers may apply, and applications from groups underrepresented in glaucoma research are strongly encouraged.
