Key Information: Candidates must commit at least 75% effort and cannot lead an independent clinical trial under this opportunity.
The NIH Mentored Quantitative Research Career Development Award (K25) attracts productive quantitative scientists and engineers whose research has not primarily focused on health and disease. It supports supervised study and research integrating expertise in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, imaging science, informatics, physics, chemistry, or engineering with biomedical, behavioral, bioimaging, or bioengineering research.
The program combines tailored training, coursework, and mentored research to prepare candidates to compete for independent NIH research support or lead multidisciplinary research teams. Projects must fit a participating NIH Institute or Center’s mission. Candidates may gain experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor, but may not lead an independent clinical trial, clinical trial feasibility study, or ancillary clinical trial.
