Description
The NIH Parent F33 senior fellowship provides research training support to experienced, independent scientists making a major change in research direction or broadening their scientific capabilities. It commonly supports sabbatical experiences, allowing established investigators to step away from regular professional responsibilities for retraining or additional career development. It is not designed for postdoctoral investigators preparing for independence.
Training must align with the mission and requirements of a participating NIH Institute or Center. Research and training plans should develop rigorous research design, experimental methods, quantitative approaches, and data analysis skills. Candidates cannot propose to lead an independent clinical trial, clinical trial feasibility study, or ancillary clinical trial, but may gain experience in a trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.
