The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Medical Student Mentorship Program offers four weeks of clinical experience at MS clinics across the country. Students work with neurologists and other MS specialists, including urologists, neuro-ophthalmologists, physiatrists, nurses, radiologists, and rehabilitation therapists. Participants spend time at one or more specialty centers, with possible visits to community practices or other settings where available.
The program introduces early signs and symptoms, diagnostic criteria, comprehensive management, and careers in MS care. It also encourages awareness of health disparities and social determinants of health. Students learn about the Society’s resources, professional training, networking, and other support opportunities. The mentorship is full time during regular business hours, with possible evening hours.
