Description
The National Science Foundation’s FAIROS program supports transformative open science research, education, and socio-technical cyberinfrastructure development. It funds work that advances findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable (FAIR) research data management, pilots more accessible scientific communication and publication models, develops data portals and research data commons, and lowers barriers to managing and sharing data across disciplines, irrespective of data size.
The program supports the NSF Public Access Initiative and encourages collaboration between cyberinfrastructure specialists and science and engineering communities. Projects may target specific scientific communities or address functions shared across many disciplines. Priorities include discoverability, reproducibility, preservation, sustainability, and the utility of research products such as data, software, and code, incorporating FAIR, CARE Indigenous Data Governance, and TRUST digital repository principles.
