The NSS Sculptor Residency at Chesterwood is an affiliated artist-in-residence program of the National Sculpture Society and Chesterwood in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It supports a sculptor living and working at the former summer home, studio, and gardens of Daniel Chester French, one of America’s foremost public sculptors. The resident receives lodging in the Meadowlark, formerly French’s second studio, and use of the Morris Studio on the property.
The residency combines dedicated working time with access to French’s works that may not be on exhibition and time with Chesterwood’s Curatorial Researcher. Public engagement is part of the program: with staff assistance, the resident schedules open studio days and offers a lecture, demonstration, or workshop. Interaction with other artists-in-residence at Chesterwood is encouraged.
