NBME’s Emerging Innovators Grant Program supports early- and mid-career medical education faculty, researchers, staff, and program leaders exploring new approaches to assessment. Under the theme “Promoting Equitable and Innovative Assessment in Medical Education,” projects may advance equity, innovation, or both. Research and program implementation proposals may introduce entirely novel approaches or approaches that are new within a particular setting.
The program seeks projects that develop novel ways to measure specific competencies, create high-quality processes supporting fair and consistent assessment experiences, or evaluate new instructional or assessment programs. Its goals include enhancing learners’ educational experiences and advancing medical education locally or nationally, with the potential to strengthen health care, improve patient outcomes, and reduce disparities.
