Description
This award honors a member of the LGBTQIA+ community who has made a significant contribution to the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the development of its professional community. The award demonstrates NCTE’s commitment to inclusivity, supporting diverse voices, and empowering leaders in literacy education. Recipients are recognized for advancing the LGBTQIA+ community in literacy teaching and learning, fostering professional development, and creating positive change within schools, communities, or professional organizations. The award is presented only when the selection committee determines a nomination merits recognition and may not be given every year.
