This award honors a member of the LGBTQIA+ community who has made a significant contribution to the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the development of its professional community. The purpose is to highlight and support LGBTQIA+ leaders in literacy education, promote cross-community connections, and foster educational spaces where all students feel recognized and valued.
