Description
The University of Notre Dame’s Environmental Change Initiative (ND-ECI) offers seed funding to build collaborations and pilot novel ideas. Its research addresses socially relevant scientific questions and encourages stakeholder engagement from the outset. Supported projects have led to extramural funding, extending their scientific reach and impact. The portfolio includes postdoctoral fellowships, environmental research working groups, undergraduate research fellowships, ND-LEEF Research Grants, and advanced computational training through REACT.
The Partial Postdoctoral Fellowship (PPF) program combines research support with interdisciplinary training, peer mentorship, seminars, and cohort activities. A special 2026 Water Initiative call supports collaborative, water-focused research under the same funding terms. Environmental Research Working Groups support idea generation and collaborations that could open new areas of interdisciplinary research.
