Description
The NATO Defense College’s Research Division offers resident fellowships for junior and senior scholars, PhD candidates, and researchers from NATO Allied and partner countries. The programme brings new scholarship and methodological creativity into NATO’s research and education, supporting innovative problem-solving and novel outputs that inform the Alliance’s thinking and decisions.
Research priorities include political and military strategic challenges over the next decade in NATO’s Treaty Area and areas of interest, including North Africa, the Middle East, Central and East Asia, and relevant sea lines of communication. Other themes include geopolitical, diplomatic, informational, economic, and cultural developments affecting NATO over five to ten years; non-nuclear and cross-domain deterrence; cognitive warfare; hybrid conflict; and accelerating technologies, including ICT. Fellows write a research essay, present their findings, and mentor participants in the College’s Senior Course.
